This week it became obvious that summer is on its way out. First, the school kids around here started back to school, then the air was, thankfully, cooler and in the morning down right crisp, the state fair was in its last week, and the Olympics has us, (well, more me) fully engaged during my little break between summer and fall class, and last but not least, Shane was uber busy at work getting ready for the students to come back. So how did we celebrate?! We (again, I) stayed up till all odd hours watching the Olympics, we went the fair, and I decided to learn to knit.
Yep folks... that's ALL cheese!!! Thank you Dairy people...
We, (Shane did watch some....) watched as much Olympics as we were able given that we don't have cable, or dish, or any other means to get more than one channel of Olympic coverage. It was incrediable as a swimmer to watch Michael Phelps win 8 medals...I'm still in shock! Shane is learning a little here and there about scoring, timing, what a layout is versus a tuck, etc.. so its really been fun to brush myself up and share in the games together.
Thusday was state employee night at the fair so we went and enjoyed a little fair food, visited the giant Belgiun horses, the baby chicks, the giant town of cheese, and of course the bunnies!!!
As you can tell, Shane was totally stoked to be at the fair and pet the bunnies!!!!
Shane is so excited he can hardly stand it... look at the face!!!! Don't let him fool you he was petting
the bunnies and oohing and awwing of the chicks...
Baby chicks! SOO darn cute... they had all different stages of chicks from egg to chicken but these guys steal the show... peep, peep..
LOOOVEE the bunnies.. this little guy was very curious and snuggly...
Ahh... and knitting you ask?! Well, I just decided I wanted a new challenge, yet something I could pick up and put down and do when I was travelling and use to make a new throw blanket that Shane won't hate (if you have experianced the blue blanket you know...) so I am having my amazing and talented mother teach me to knit. I am going to stay with her for a few days while she has some routine testing done and she has been kind enough to take me on. The perfectionist that I am, I found a youtube video that has gotten me as far as casting on so hopefully she can work her mom magic and I'll have something to share with the class in the coming weeks.
Finally, Macabean has decided in the spirit of the games that he will begin training for when they put WiiFit into the Olympics....
Macabean Butters Coon Kitty Van Sandt Chapman for the gold in the 10 minute step on/step off.
