A Deep Summer Trip to Brown County

Shane and I have always loved Brown County Indiana. As a native Hoosier I grew up going to church camp near Gnawbone, IN (yes, it's a real town), and roaming around Nashville with pumpkin ice cream in the fall. When we lived in Bloomington Shane and I went to Brown County a few times every year to hike, picnic, and soak in the surroundings.

With this summer being the hottest (and driest) in history we have talked about going to Brown County several times but it's always been so hot that spending the day outside, even under the canopy of trees, just didn't sound fun at all. This weekend however, the weather was wonderful (think 80s, partly sunny, a cool breeze)! So yesterday, we headed south to Brown County. We lunched at The Story Inn, tasted and sipped wine at Brown County winery, and hiked and marveled at the beauty at the state park topped off with a little ice cream on the way home. To say it was a wonderful day is a total understatement.

Although, it did make me long for fall complete with hoodies, pretty leaves, and pumpkin ice cream...
